 Battle of the Bands      (Musical Performances)
Twenty high school bands will battle it out May 9th and 10th at the third annual High School Battle of the Bands at Sleeptrain Pavilion in Concord. Bands will play either May 9th or May 10th in a bid to play at the May 17th finale, where winners will get prizes, including the chance to open for a national act. To hear demo songs from the semifinalists and to learn more about these aspiring musicians, click here. Tickets are available at Ticket Master, from bands or at the Pavilion box office.
 Livermore Library - Mother's Day Craft      (Kids)
Come to the Springtown Branch Library on Friday, May 9th, any time between 10:30 and 5:30, to create something special for Mother’s Day! Give Mom a rest and bring the children to the library to fashion a little something with that personal touch for Mom (or Grandma, or Auntie, or . . .?). The Springtown Branch Library is located at 998 Bluebell Drive in Livermore, just off the Springtown exit from Interstate 580, next to the duck pond. There is no fee for this craft program.  Wardrobe for Opportunity      (Charity)
Join Wardrobe for Opportunity as we celebrate the transformative power of clothing and confidence. Come to the 13th Annual Spring to Success Luncheon on Friday, May 9th at the San Ramon Marriott

 Cell Block Seven      (Arts and Entertainment)
Del Valle Fine Arts in association with Livermore Valley Performing Arts Center presents Cell Block Seven on Friday May 9 at 8:00 p.m. at the Bankhead Theater, 2400 First Street, Livermore. Cell Block Seven is a Californian jazz band favoring the West Coast traditional jazz sound of Lu Watters, Turk Murphy and the Bay City Jazz Band of the '50s in a classic jazz lineup led by two cornets. Their many festivals, tours and concert successes are a direct result of their very professional approach coupled with a great sound and an extensive repertoire.  “Sunrise at Campobello”      (Arts and Entertainment)
The Classic Family Drama by Dore Schary, “Sunrise at Campobello”, is onstage at the Willows Theatre in Concord Friday, May 9th through Sunday, June 8th with Wednesday shows at 3 and 7:30pm; Thursday shows at 7:30pm; Friday and Saturday shows at 8pm; Saturday matinees at 2pm and Sunday matinees at 3pm.  Dixon May Fair      (Family)
The 133rd annual Dixon May Fair themed "Wheel'n & Squeel'n" opens Thursday, May 8 and continues through Sunday, May 11, Mother's Day. It's the oldest fair in the state! Hours are 2-10pm on Thrusday, 12-10pm on Friday, 10am-10pm on Saturday and 10am-11pm on Sunday . Bring the family for the fun, the food and the entertainment. Jo Dee Messina, the B-52s and ZZ Top are just some of the major musical acts that are appearing this year. And don't forget about the Demolition Derby set for Mother's Day!  Livermore High School      (Arts and Entertainment)
“76 Trombones” will once again play on the stage at Livermore High School! The spring musical is “The Music Man,” and the production requires a large ensemble of over 50, ages 8-18. This is an upbeat slice of pure Americana, and we hope you won’t miss our production. Fun for the whole family! Performances are May 2nd, 3rd, 8th, 9th, and 10th at 8 p.m., with our traditional closing Mother’s Day matinee, May 11th at 2 p.m. Tickets are $8 reserved and $5 general balcony seating.  Danville Role Players Ensemble      (Arts and Entertainment)
Danville’s Role Players Ensemble presents The School for Scandal, Sheridan’s iconic 18th comedy of manners at Danville’s Village Theatre Thursdays through Sundays April 18th through May 10th. Sheridan skewers fashionable London society in the late 1700s with merciless wit. Featuring a great ensemble cast of local actors, the play is a comic masterpiece with a moral.  10th Anniversary Celebration Tournament Entry      (Sports)
Each golfer who plays 10 rounds on The Course At Wente Vineyards between January 1 and May 31, 2008 earns a complimentary spot in the 10th Anniversary Celebration Tournament scheduled for June 22, 2008. To be eligible for the complimentary invitation to the anniversary golf tournament, a golfer must play 10 rounds between January 1 and May 31, 2008. The field for the special event is to include family, staff and special guests who will gather for a celebration of golf, food and wine.
